Creators Academy is a small arts-themed public high school in Downtown Brooklyn/DUMBO founded in 2005 as the UA School of Music and Art. Our program integrates literacy and the arts into all aspects of our instructional program. Students learn to be critical thinkers and creative communicators by capitalizing on our students' love of the arts and their desire to engage in self-expression. Creators Academy infuses a rigorous early college curriculum alongside the arts. We do not require special auditions or portfolios for application, believing that all students benefit from an arts education and should have access to early college opportunities. Our Programs: Bard Early College Academy @ the Creators Academy: Students take up to 4 semesters of dual HS and College Credit through the Bard Sequence with opportunities in all departments to take college courses through additional partners, all at no cost to the student. This allows students to graduate from high school with over a year's worth of free college credits. 21st Century Arts @ The Creators Academy is a student choice, in-school day, credited arts program. The choices include visual and digital arts, modern band and music production, acting and musical theater, dance and choreography. The Arts building capacity to engage in critical thinking, collaborative, and creative skills that students will need to be successful in the rapidly evolving 21st-century workforce.
