About this school

Public charter option with a separate application process outside zoned assignment.

New Heights Academy Charter School empowers students from Washington Heights, Inwood, and Harlem to succeed in both college and life. Founded in 2006 as the first charter school in the district, it serves grades 6-12 scholars with a college-preparatory education rooted in academic rigor and character development. At New Heights, we center our culture on the core values of Perseverance, Responsibility, Integrity, Discipline, and Enthusiasm-the "PRIDE" pillars-and maintain a community defined by transparent communication, trust, and respect for diverse perspectives. Scholars engage deeply with a challenging college-prep curriculum that fosters critical thinking, curiosity, competence, confidence, and self-discipline . Our vision is clear: 100% of students graduate high school with a Regents diploma and at least one college acceptance, equipping them to chart their own paths forward. For over a decade, we've celebrated a 100% college acceptance rate, with graduates admitted to institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, NYU, Mount Holyoke, Syracuse, Lehigh, and Penn State. We know families want more than academics-they seek a nurturing, personalized environment where students are truly known, supported, and challenged to grow.
