Stephen Decatur Middle School 35 - Magnet School of Leadership, Exploration, and the Arts is a small, vibrant middle school serving grades 6-8, located in the historic Stuyvesant Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Stephen Decatur Magnet is a forward-thinking community of progressive educators and learners. We are proud to be nationally recognized as a 2025 Top Magnet School of Excellence and a New and Emerging Magnet School of Merit. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School, we are committed to holistically addressing the academic and social needs of our students to ensure their success. Our instructional approach is deeply rooted in our magnet theme of Leadership, Exploration, and the Arts. This foundation is enriched by meaningful out-of-classroom experiences that expose students to diverse cultures and the evolving disciplines of communication arts, visual arts, and performing arts. Through rigorous academics and project-based learning, students are empowered to think critically, collaborate effectively, and grow as innovative leaders throughout their middle school journey.
