At HERO High School, students plan to change the world for the better by preparing for successful careers in healthcare, education, business and nonprofit management and green careers. Our pathway programs provide specialized training and placement in occupations including registered nurse (RN), radiological technician, licensed practical nurse (LPN), community health worker, certified nursing assistant (CNA), teacher, paraprofessional, business or nonprofit executive and HVAC technician. Through our P-Tech program, students can complete a free 2-year college degree in Nursing or Community Health. HERO students pursue a challenging course of study that includes early college classes, real world problem solving, advanced math and science classes, a comprehensive work-based learning program and paid internships. Our intensive advisory program allows parents to stay in close contact with the school and students to receive college and career counseling throughout every year of high school. Advisors connect students with tutoring, counseling, after-school clubs, electives, early college classes and internships according to student interest and need. HERO students work hard, but also have lots of fun at our many after-school clubs, our growing PSAL program, electives in visual arts, dance, theater and music, field trips, homecoming, dances and other events. HERO students receive support even after they graduate, through tutoring for college classes, career coaching and access to advanced career opportunities. At HERO High, we have your back for life! As a model school, we play a leading role in the expansion of career-connected learning and early college opportunities city-wide as part of the FutureReady NYC and CareerReady Modern Youth Apprenticeship programs.
